The Arabian oven awakens from its lethargy

Pottery

In Jaén there is a pottery with a long tradition, a traditional kiln that has been passed from generation to generation, and after being dormant for almost two decades due to the high market demands that it could not supply, a project in collaboration with the Factum Arte Foundation has increased its expectations of becoming competitive in the sector. Last September, a work of creation and firing of more than 5000 unique ceramic pieces was carried out with which the work of this family workshop in the potters’ quarter of Úbeda was kick-started; it is the realization of more contemporary pieces, but based on the essential principles. This craftsmanship is part of the tradition and daily life in the Iberian Peninsula; it has a great heritage value that is becoming evident at the same time that it has been innovating to adapt to new markets, being declared of Cultural Interest (BIC) with the typology of Ethnological Interest Activity, so the Board has launched the project Crafts with A of Andalusia.
