Project

Artisan work is increasingly valued by the public who understand the complexity of production and the added value of the product. In spite of this, many artisan centres are unable to find replacements for retiring workers and masters. One of the causes is the lack of training of people in these trades. The aim of this project is to enhance the value of artisan work by encouraging vocational training schools, art schools (in Spain) and occupational training centres to include itineraries or subjects that cover these specialities and that people who can be trained in these specialities can start up artisan businesses or be employed in those with a demand for workers with this type of specialisation. Moreover, maintaining this type of production means maintaining a European cultural heritage, as in the case of Fajalauza, with more than 500 years of history, or the members of the Associazione Botteghe Artigiane del Centro Storico.

We strive to be committed to the students we are privileged to serve, in our alumni association, our dedicated, talented faculty and staff. We also take pride in having the most active and helpful group of partners, visionary parents, well-wishers, alumni and friends. The target groups are mainly art schools, vocational training centres, employment training centres, but also artisans interested in taking on skilled workers and people who want to seek employment in this field or start their own business. The project fully addresses the needs and objectives of the participating organisations, as it is born from them. It would bring the possibility to include skilled workers in artisan industries such as Fajalauza, or the partners of the Associazione Botteghe Artigiane del Centro Storico. It would provide schools and vocational training centres with new training offers. It will give the students of these centres new professional opportunities, in this case in demand.
